It's going to take a "Christmas miracle" to meet their goal according to the Lima Salvation Army.
With only five days to go, the annual Red Kettle Campaign is nearly $30,000Â shy of the $125,000 goal. Officials say they have not been able to make up for the two week late start due to national contracts with two major stores saying that kettles couldn't go out until after Thanksgiving. They have also had trouble filling spots for "ringing" leaving many prime bell ringing hours unmanned.
A majority of the dollars raised through the kettle drive go towards the programming and outreach services offered throughout the year. You can help by volunteering to ring the bells in the days remaining through December 23rd or make a monetary contribution to the Salvation Army. You can contact operations director Paul Downing at 419-224-9055 extension 211.
