Back to school shopping can be a stressful time for parents and students alike, with all of the shopping that goes into getting ready to start the school year once again. All of the supplies needed can get expensive - but luckily, shoppers can get a little help thanks to the Sales Tax Holiday, where school items under 20 dollars each and clothing under 75 dollars each are free from sales tax.
Officials with the Lima Mall say that they see a lot of people on the Sales Tax Holiday weekend, and that it's a good thing that they can provide shoppers with deals.
"I think it's really important, especially for families that are buying a lot for back to school, that can get really pricey and this is just a way for the state of Ohio to encourage people to buy locally, buy here at the mall, at shopping centers, and everywhere else," said Betsy Billingsley, marketing manager for the Lima Mall.
Store managers in the mall are also seeing a lot of people walking in their doors - but they were ready for the extra traffic.
"We've actually been preparing for it for a couple of weeks, and we expected an increase in our foot traffic," said Erin Lagenkamp, Boutique Team Leader for Francesca's.  "It's really fun to be able to work with everybody and get them prepped for this coming school year, both parents and kids."
Shoppers could be seen walking around the mall holding bags from all kinds of stores, and many were really taking advantage of the sales this weekend.
"IÂ usually help my daughter with my grandchildren, and she was the last one that I had to get stuff for, and what a perfect day to be out shopping with tax free," said Donna Miller.
"It definitely helps when you have multiple kids and you're buying school supplies for all of them, and and clothing and uniforms, so coming out definitely helps to save some money," said Karen Bacon.
The sales will continue through Sunday, August 6th, at midnight. Â
