Shawnee Maplewood Opens "Wax Museum" with Famous Ohioans

Shawnee Maplewood Elementary students take a step back in time to wrap up their end of the year lessons.

The 4th graders opened the doors to their "Wax Museum". Each student was assigned a famous Ohioan, they had to research, write a report, and prepare a presentation for the museum. Visitors were able to press the play button at each stop and watch the famous Ohioan come to life, giving a summary of their background and accomplishments.

One teacher says this is a great way for students to have fun and learn at the same time. "The fact that they know how to research that, they know how to get up and speak in front of someone, that was new for a lot of them, they've done an awesome job with that, so they really impressed me with how well they can memorize their speech," says Michelle Wood, 4th grade math, science, and social studies teacher at Shawnee Maplewood Elementary.

More than 100 4th graders presented Wednesday and the next group will present next week.
