July 9, 2024, Press Release from the City of Lima: The City of Lima’s Department of Workforce and Small Business continues to accept applications through the Brownfield Assessment Program. This voluntary program is open to any landowner with property in city limits, with a target area of census tracts 133, 134, 136, 137, 138, and 141. The program benefits property owners and developers by determining if sites have been impacted by historic use, and if impacted, what support options exist for cleanup and redevelopment.

To date, 15 sites have been submitted for consideration through the program, including the former Armory at 500 Liberty St., the train exhibit area at Lincoln Park, 306-316 E. Elm, and the commercial warehouse at S. Central and Reese Ave. Phase I assessments are underway for some of these sites, which begins the process of gathering information on the property’s previous, and current use and performing a visual inspection to identify any possible contamination or concerns.

Property owners that wish to participate in the program can submit a site application consideration form by visiting: https://www.limaohio.gov/809/Brownfield-Assessment-Program
