ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - Grant dollars will be going to Apollo's robotics department to get a new piece of equipment that will advance the students' skill levels.
The career tech education equipment grant is designed for schools to meet local manufacturers' needs of their workforce.
Automated manufacturing is growing in the region, and more students are becoming interested in the program, and additional equipment will provide for bigger classes.
Lima City Schools also received just over $1 million.
"This year we're getting an Amatrol smart factory with a robot arm. It's a whole system that is going to be able to assemble components for the students. It's a great simulation for the whole automation that is going around Lima," said Rickey Collar, Apollo Automation and Robotics instructor.
