Career tech students from Lima Senior, Apollo Career Center, and Vantage Career Center touring Stoops Freightliner out on Hanthorn Road. The company has locations in 6 states including here in Lima that offer new and used medium to heavy-duty trucks, service, and parts. Lima has one of 3 body shops within the company. Students got to hear from experts in the field, got a look under the hood of these large vehicles, and to see if this was the career path they wanted to take. Educators say getting into businesses like this is a great experience.

"We're making the connection between what we're doing in the classrooms and the shops at the school and what they're doing in real life out here," commented Frank Kohlhofer, tech coordinator at Lima Senior.

"Our goal today is to get them a hands-on experience. They're going to touch some engines. They're going to see what our mobile technicians can do. They're going to tour our parts department to see all of our warehousing supplies and of course our body shop," said Cheryl Troyer, continuous improvement coordinator at Stoop Freightliner.

Only time will tell if today's open house and tour will garner any new employees at Stoops Freightliner.
