An Allen County Assistant Prosecutor has filed a petition to run for common pleas court judge.
Terri Kohlrieser filed her petition with the board of elections Tuesday afternoon. The bench position becomes available when Judge David Cheney retires this year. Kohlrieser has been an assistant prosecutor for over a decade, and has indicated that with her experience and passion she would meet the qualifications to be judge. She said she's been looking into the position for about a year and a half, and committed to running in the last six months. Kohlrieser said she wants to assure fair justice with no interests.
"You have to look at it objectively and decide the case, or whatever you happen to be doing at that moment, without any kind of agenda," Kohlrieser said. "That's the kind of person I've always been and that's what I'd continue to do, on the bench."
As of Tuesday(1/16/18) afternoon, no one else has filed to run for common pleas court judge. Although, Lima attorney Larry Huffman has called a news conference for Thursday related to the position of common pleas judge.
