ALGER, OH (WLIO) - Things were getting a little wild at the Alger Public Library as they're getting ready for a summer of reading.
An exotic zoo out of Michigan came down to give the kids and adults a firsthand look and was even able to touch a wide variety of animals, including a baby ostrich, an owl, and even an alligator, before they signed up for the summer reading program.
The theme for the summer reading program is "Adventures Begins at Your Library" and is open to preschoolers to adults. Library officials hope the kids and adults have a great time getting into a great book.
"If you find that right book, it will connect with you, and you will be a reader," says Stacy Hensley, Director of the Alger Public Library. "You know every book is not for everybody, but you will find that right one, and you will stick with it. And I want everyone to realize that libraries are not going away. We can do so much here. You can come and take your driver's license permit test online on our computer, and you don't have to leave the community," said Stacy Hensley, director of the Alger Public Library.
There will be a prize drawing as part of the summer reading program, and the grand prize for the adults includes tickets to Kings Island, including gas money, and passes to the Kenton pool.
