Monday night, the Neighborhood Concerns Committee made a motion to object the renewal of liquor licenses at Northside Firehouse and Levels Lounge. They also made a recommendation to council to object a liquor license renewal at Ketzys.

Records from the Lima Police Department show issues occurred at Levels and Ketzys and management was not cooperative. There were also guns and drugs found at one establishment.

Firehouse's license is up for consideration because the committee says the owner hasn't kept his word.

“As far as the Firehouse is because we’ve heard these same promises made over and over again where they say we’re going to change x y and z and then when we come back 12 months later or six months later those promises have not been fulfilled,” said Jamie Dixon, the Neighborhood Concerns Committee chairman.

A Lima Police Department Sergeant says these establishments need to do a better job with how they operate their businesses.

“I’ve spoken with all of the people that are in charge of the establishments,” said Nick Hart, Lima Police Department sergeant. “Each place is individual. Each place has its own specific issues. If you just follow the rules and obey the law, and stay within the guidelines of your liquor permits, you’re not going to have any issues whatsoever.”

Lima City Council will make a decision at the next council meeting.
