Every three years, the school inducts several alumni into their hall of fame, and this year eight will join the ranks.
ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - The next inductees to the Lima City Schools' Hall of Fame have been announced.
Tickets for the October 10th ceremony are on sale now through the school.
Every three years, the school inducts several alumni into their hall of fame, and this year eight will join the ranks. The "Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame" was established in 1987 to recognize those who have made a significant impact in society after graduating from Lima City Schools. Administrators say these individuals’ accomplishments are significant to students today.
Superintendent Jill Akerman says, “They are role models for our current kids. We want all our kids that are in our schools to know that they can do anything and a lot of the things that most of these people have achieved. So, we feel it's important to recognize them for their distinguished work that they've done and to put them into our hall of fame.”
The inductees are:
- Doctor Curtis Glenn (LSH 1988)
- Dennis J. Henderson (LSH 1975)
- Doctor Randall E. Henderson (LSH 1978)
- William Hansen Laws (LSH 1970)
- Doctor Mark Mcdonald (LSH 1982)
- Russell A. Mericle Junior (Central 1952)-posthumously
- Greg Pitts (LSH 1983)
- Doctor Charles A. Rossfeld (Central 1952)
