Toledo Zoo treks over to Elida Elementary School

Some unlikely visitors made an appearance at Elida Elementary School today(3/20/18).

The school welcomed the Toledo Zoo for a special presentation put on by their educational outreach program educators. The zoo brought in a chicken, a snake, and a chinchilla. Principal Allison Williams said this was a way to bring hands-on learning to the students. They didn't just learn about these animals, but also how to care for them and how to be around them. There were two presentations put on for the students.

"I think they get so excited because this isn't something that they get in a typical school day," Williams said. "They get hands-on learning, they get to see the animals, they get to touch the animals. A lot of them don't have the opportunity to go to the zoo. So bringing this in is a chance for them to get to experience that.

The students also got to play a few games in between interacting with the animals.
