VAN WERT, Ohio (WLIO) - Fountain Park was outlined with parents and their children as Promise Church held a glow-in-the-dark Easter egg hunt in Van Wert.
The eggs had small plastic candles in them so the kids could find them easily in the dark.
More than 500 people came out to get all the candy and prizes they could. The eggs had small plastic candles in them so the kids could find them easily in the dark. With the hundreds of parents and children who showed up, organizers were overwhelmed by the turnout.
"It blows me away. We were expecting maybe a couple 100 people at the most. I mean, I think the police estimated five, six-hundred at least, and they're still coming. So we're overwhelmed by it. It just lets us know, as we move forward from next year, we're going to just triple our efforts, quadruple the effort. We want this to be an annual event in Van Wert. We're excited about it. We just want to let people know, be patient with us. We're doing our best, and we'll learn from this, and we'll be bigger and better next year," said Aaron Mcgranahan, pastor with Promise Church.
Promise Church plans to make this a yearly tradition for the Van Wert community.
