LIMA, OH (WLIO) - It has been promoting the Lima-Allen County region since 1978 and has only had three directors in its 46 years, but a fourth director is ready to take the lead.
Visit Greater Lima announcing retiring executive director Christine Pleva's replacement on Your Hometown Stations' Noon Edition today. Downtown Lima Inc. Executive Director Betsy Billingsley will be making the move over to the Convention and Visitors Bureau. Pleva says they have seen a great change in the tourism business in her 23 years at the helm, along with a name change, and Billingsley is excited to take the bureau to the next level.
"By changing our name, it really helped bring us to the level of what destination management is. We're here to get visitors to come here. Whether they're groups, meetings, events, or whatever it may be, So they can come to spend their dollars here and explore our community," said Christine Pleva, retiring executive director of Visit Greater Lima.
"I'm really excited to be part of the Visit Greater Lima team. Not only do I still get to kind of work with Downtown Lima Inc., but I will be doing the whole entire county. We really like to bring everybody in. It's about community; it's about visiting; it's about what we have to offer, and Allen County has so much to offer," stated Betsy Billingsley, the new executive director of Visit Greater Lima.
Billingsley's first day will be Tuesday, April 9th.
