The Allen County Bicycle and Pedestrian Task Force is gearing up for its fall count and looking for volunteers. No experience is needed as you are assigned an area to watch for two hours and keep a tally of people who are riding bikes, walking, using scooters, or any other method of human-powered transportation. Federally funded projects that include signage, crosswalks, changes in land use, and other infrastructure issues are determined from this data.

Volunteers are asked to keep a tally of people who are riding bikes, walking, using scooters, or any other method of human-powered transportation.

"It's important for planners and engineers to track where people are using human-powered transportation. Where people are being safe, where we need additional safety procedures and equipment and infrastructure, to make sure that the people we are encouraging to be active, to be healthy, to go to the places where they live, learn, work, worship, and play, we want them to be safe. We want to make sure we have visible crosswalks, bike paths, bike lanes to make sure that people can get to where they need to go in our community and they can get there safely," said Josh Unterbrink, Allen County Bicycle and Pedestrian Task Force.
