WAPAKONETA, Ohio (WLIO) — The Wapakoneta Farmers Market continues to serve as a gathering place for local vendors to showcase their products while connecting directly with customers.
The market features about 30 vendors each Saturday morning in the parking lot across from the Auglaize County Courthouse. Shoppers can browse a variety of locally made and homegrown products, including fresh baked goods, jams and jellies, handmade wood crafts, jewelry and locally produced honey. Visitors can also take advantage of a tool-sharpening service.
Beyond offering locally made products, the market gives customers the opportunity to meet the people who grow and produce the food they purchase.
“There's an understanding that they know we work really hard and I think they really appreciate the homegrown vegetables and stuff like that. Same with the honey, we've got honey here too and different things like that. Green bean season's coming. We'll be having a lot of green beans and then you'll get into all your squashes and things like that. Like we've got zucchini this week they just started popping on,” says Tracy Niemeyer, Golden Bell Harvest/Wapakoneta Farmers Market Manager.
The Wapakoneta Farmers Market is open every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. through October.
