AUGLAIZE COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - A Wapakoneta man is facing multiple charges for allegedly setting his house on fire.

Wapakoneta man faces multiple charges for allegedly attempting to burn down his house

77-year-old Gerald Fullenkamp has been charged with aggravated arson, criminal use of explosive devices, and cruelty to a companion animal.

An Auglaize County grand jury has charged 77-year-old Gerald Fullenkamp with aggravated arson, criminal use of explosive devices, and cruelty to a companion animal.

According to the Ohio State Fire Marshal's Office, on October 5th, 2024, Wapakoneta Police officers were called to Fullenkamp's home around 4 a.m. because he allegedly threatened to burn his home down. When they arrived, they met Fullenkamp at the front door, and he was covered in blood. He locked the door, and a fire was seen from a second-story window. The police forced their way into the house and found Fullenkamp in the basement and escorted him out. The fire department came and put out the fire, and Fullenkamp was taken to the hospital for treatment.

On October 5th, 2024, Wapakoneta Police officers were called to Fullenkamp's home around 4 a.m. because he allegedly threatened to burn his home down.

A psychological evaluation has been ordered for the early part of November, and the case will be put on hold until the evaluation is returned. Law enforcement has not provided details regarding the cruelty to a companion animal charge.
