AUGLAIZE COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - A Wapakoneta man has been charged with aggravated arson after officials say he attempted to burn down his house on Saturday.
According to the Ohio State Fire Marshal's Office, police officers were called to 906 Aster Drive around 4 a.m. for reports of a man threatening to burn the home down.

When they arrived, they met Fullenkamp at the front door, and he was covered in blood. He locked the door, and a fire was seen from a second-story window. Police forced their way into the house and found Fullenkamp in the basement and escorted him out.
The fire department came and put out the fire, and Fullenkamp was taken to the hospital for treatment.

October 9, 2024, Statement from the Ohio Department of Commerce, Ohio State Fire Marshal: On Saturday, October 5, 2024, the Wapakoneta Police Department was dispatched to 906 Aster Drive for a male threatening to burn the house down. Officers arrived on scene and met Gerald Fullenkamp at the front door. Fullenkamp was covered in blood and proceeded to lock the door. Officers began negotiating with Fullenkamp to exit the residence. They then observed fire through a window in the second story of the residence. Officers were able to make entry into the residence and they located Fullenkamp in the basement. They were able to escort Fullenkamp out of the residence. The Wapakoneta Fire Department arrived on scene a short time later. Fullenkamp was transported to St. Rita’s Hospital in Lima, Ohio for non-life threatening injuries.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office was contacted to assist with the fire investigation. Investigators classified the fire as incendiary. On October 8, 2024, The Wapakoneta Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for Fullenkamp from the Auglaize County Municipal Court for Aggravated Arson. Additional charges may apply after the next grand jury.
