Waynesfield man takes negotiated plea to get attempted murder charge dropped

A Waynesfield man who threatened his ex-wife has taken a plea deal to get an attempted murder charge dropped.

48-year-old Dale Agnew has taken a deal and pleaded guilty to kidnapping and aggravated burglary. Besides the attempted murder charge, a charge of possessing criminal tools has also been dropped. In June, Agnew entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity. That was after two psychological examinations said that he was competent to stand trial. Court documents say Agnew restrained his ex-wife and threatened to hurt her. A pre-sentence investigation has been ordered and he will be sentenced on Dec. 6.
