October 17, 2024, Press Release from the Delphos Police Department: On 10-6-2024 a female called to report that she believed another female, whom she has a protection order against, violated that order by placing a phone call to her employer. There was no evidence to suggest the caller had any connection to the complainant.
On 10-6-2024 officers were notified that a male that they transported to the hospital, for making threats to harm himself, had left the facility without permission. Officers were asked to locate the male and check his wellbeing.
On 10-7-2024 officers spoke with a male in the 600 block of S. Jefferson St, who reported receiving a call from a collection agency in reference to a previous unpaid loan. The male believed the call was a possible scam.
On 10-7-2024 a male in the 500 block of Moening St, called to report paint overspray on his vehicle from his neighbors painting project. The male was advised that this would be a civil issue.
On 10-8-2024 officers were sent to the 900 block of Superior St, for a Domestic Disturbance. Officers arrived and eventually were able to speak with a male and female involved in a physical altercation. After investigating the incident officers found probable cause to arrest 35-year-old Philip Lane and, 41-year-old, Stephanie Miller, both of Delphos, for Domestic Violence. They were both transported to the Van Wert County Jail.
On 10-8-2024 a female called requesting to file a Theft report. The female stated that she allowed a male and female to stay with her for a short period of time at her residence in the 200 block of Holland Ave. The female recently noticed that items have been stolen from her.
On 10-8-2024 officers were dispatched to investigate a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of E. 5th St, and Elida Rd. Officers arrived and found both vehicles had sustained minor damage. The driver of one vehicle was issued a citation for Assured Clear Distance Ahead.
On 10-9-2024 a female called requesting a police report. The female stated that she is the caretaker of another female. She stated that her patient was missing a small amount of her medication and needed it documented.
On 10-9-2024 officers spoke with the owner of a business in the 900 block of E. 5th St. The business owner stated that an employee had stolen items from his business and was terminated. The employee refused to bring the items back and was threatening harm to himself.
On 10-9-2024 officers received a call from a motorist on Elida Rd, reporting an intoxicated driver. Officers located the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver identified himself as Alexander Hernandez Vazquez. Officers recognized this male from a previous OVI in which he identified himself as Gilberto Martinez. The male was taken into custody and charged with OVI, and operating a vehicle with no driver’s license. Additional charges are being reviewed for Obstructing Official Business.
On 10-10-2024 officers were sent to a minor two vehicle crash near the intersection of Ambrose Dr, and E. 5th St. After speaking with each driver, it was found that they both had the same insurance and insurance agent. Both drivers exchanged information and requested that no report be made.
On 10-10-2024 officers were dispatched to the 500 block of S. Canal St, for a Domestic Disturbance. Officers spoke with a male and female at the residence. Each stated that they had a verbal altercation but nothing physical occurred.
On 10-11-2024 officers were sent to the area of the 500 block of E. 8th St, for a report of suspicious person trying to get into a parked car.
On 10-11-2024 officers met with a female in the 800 block of Skinner St, who wished to file a Menacing report. The female told officers that her boyfriends brother threatened to assault her.
On 10-12-2024 officers responded to a residence on Elida Ave, to investigate the report of a deceased female. Officers investigated the incident and found no foul play. The death is believed to be of natural causes.
On 10-12-2024 officers were sent to a business in the 200 block of W. 2nd St. Employees at the business reported receiving a counterfeit one-hundred-dollar bill.
On 10-12-2024 officers were dispatched to the area of W. 7th St, and Elm St, for a loud music complaint.
On 10-12-2024 officers were sent to a business in the 200 block of Elida Rd, for a private property crash. Officers arrived and found that the damage was minor. Both drivers requested to just exchange insurance information.
