LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Millions of American people choose between food and basic needs each day. September is a time to bring awareness to this as part of Feeding America.

This is the 15th year that a network of 200 food banks, including the West Ohio Food Bank, have been taking part in "Hunger Action Month". The local food bank serves an eleven-county area by supporting dozens of food pantries, holding monthly distributions at the facility, and helping anyone who is in need of food to put on the table.

"The richest country in the world and we still have a hunger issue here, said Jason Aldrich, communications and public relations manager at West Ohio Food Bank. "With underprivileged families, kids at school, things like that. That's why places like us, the West Ohio Food Bank, exist so we can help those most in need."

Aldrich encourages people to download the "Let's All Do Good" app on their smartphone. Search West Ohio Food Bank and you will receive messages telling you about distribution days and pop-up events.
