The Wapakoneta woman accused of intentionally running over and killing 32-year-old Michael Angel, has received the maximum sentence of 11 years for involuntary manslaughter.Â
In September of 2015, witnesses say 34-year-old Jade Miller hit Angel with her car following a fight inside the vehicle. Now, she is apologizing for the pain she caused his family.Â
"I don't ever expect you to forgive me, nor do i expect to have it. I will forever live with his death to be caused by my hand," Miller said.Â
Judge Frederick Pepple said during her sentencing Tuesday - he does not believe her claim that it was an accident.
"I believe you've minimized it and not accepting responsibility for your actions. I do not accept your version of the events," Judge Pepple said during the trial Tuesday.Â
In a statement from Miller's mother, she said her daughters personality and decision-making had changed prior to the incident, after being prescribed Percocet and antidepressants.Â
"She wasn't the person I knew, her personality, or anything," her mother said at the trial.Â
She went on to say her daughter needed help. And the state claimed anything less then the maximum sentence would have been unjust.Â
"The state believes the 11 year sentence is the one that is just in this case," the State said.Â
Following her sentence, Miller will be under post release control for five years. She will also have to pay over 7 thousand dollars in restitution to cover Angel's funeral costs.
