The Mental Health and Recovery Services Board along with PASS are working to remove the stigma that comes along with the subject of mental health and substance abuse. They say 40% of Americans are suffering from some form of mental illness. Their goal is to get those dealing with mental health issues to understand they are not alone.

"So many people are struggling. Many people are feeling they are all alone, that there's no help, but please know there is help and treatment works. There's a variety of treatments out there. It's not a one size fits all. Many people benefit from treatment from mental health services," said Donna Dickman, development director of PASS.

The mental health and recovery services board relies on local funding to assist these people. A 5-year renewal levy is on the November ballot which brings in 68% of their funding. In 2022, levies funded just over 5 million dollars in local services and programs.
