A night of “good trouble” was going on in Lima on Thursday, as the Democrats came together to honor the late Congressman and civil rights leader John Lewis.

Spread the Love, a grassroots organization that delivers peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to neighborhoods where children are at risk of going hungry, shared their mission with the Allen County Democrats Saturday morning.

The Pride Picnic featured food, games, and speakers who shared personal stories. Organizers said the goal was to create a safe, welcoming space, especially at a time when members of the LGBTQ+ community are feeling under attack.

Local Democrats rallied in Faurot Park in protest of Vice President Vance's Lima visit.

"So it's incredibly important. It's a moral document. It decides what the state cares about, and we think they should care about the kids. We think they should focus on public schools and funding for education and libraries. And the fight right now is over whether or not those things should be the priority," said Coyle.

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Area democrats wanted to get into some good trouble with a protest outside a congressman's office.

The Allen County Democrats held a rally to voice concerns about recent policies impacting the environment.

Bryan Hambley emphasized the importance of the secretary of state’s office in ensuring fair and honest elections, as well as establishing equitable political districts across Ohio. He said his goal is to maintain a democracy that serves all Ohioans.
