Betsy Billingsley, executive director of Visit Greater Lima, said, “Overwhelming. We were really surprised by our second one. We had over 30 entrances, which we, you know, you think, oh, maybe a couple here and there, but people are really catching on. And we just love those pictures that you take with your grandkids or the family, or, you know, a great day that you've had here in town.”

With a little Christmas magic, a true sign of the holidays is burning bright in Downtown Lima.  Downtown Lima Inc. and Woof Boom Radio Stations held the first ever "Lights on Lima".   Before the tree was lit, there was festival like atmosphere on the Town Square with face painting and activities for the kids.  Plus, free popcorn, hot chocolate and cotton candy for everyone to enjoy.  Santa was around passing out candy canes to people that came down and Mayor Sharettta Smith read a proclamation declaring the day “Light on Lima” day, and the opening of the holiday season in the city.

Each year, the Downtown Lima, Inc. Holiday Festival creates an inviting and magical experience for the community to get into spirit of the holiday. This year, Santa, Mrs. Claus and their friends are returning to downtown Lima for a fun, activity filled day in on Saturday, December 3rd, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Downtown Lima, Inc. welcomes the community to a new tradition, Lights on Lima, on Friday, November 25, from 4pm to 6pm in the Town Square. The Lima Fire Department hangs the annual tree downtown each year and Lights on Lima will bring the tree to life. The event is currently being planned with help from the City of Lima, Woof Boom Radio, ArtSpace/Lima and other community partners.

The downtown street lamps have long been decorated throughout the year and are really decked out for the winter holidays. They are doing a new fundraiser selling "gift tags" that can have your name on it to hang on the lamps this Christmas. The money raised will go toward the upkeep and storage of the holiday decorations.
