The Lima City Schools will hold its annual Back to School Celebration and School Supply Giveaway from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Martin Luther King Park, 400 E. Eighth Street.

The Lima Area Radio Kontrol Society will be taking to the skies this weekend for their annual Big Bird Fly-In.

Organizers are currently in need of donations, especially children’s clothing. Items can be dropped off at the Children Services office at 123 West Spring Street on the following dates and times:

• Friday, July 25, from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

• Monday, July 28, and Tuesday, July 29, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Large furniture and appliances **will not** be accepted.

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The City of Lima is making efforts to connect with neighborhoods across the community as it plans this year’s National Night Out.

“It’s basically everything that’s going on in Lima in the ’30s, but also what’s going on around the nation,” said Hannah Bergstedt, Public Engagement and Learning Coordinator at the Lima Public Library. “I think we all know the Great Depression — that’s what the 1930s are known for. But there were other things going on. And actually, Lima did better than a lot of communities during that time because of all of our industry, so we’ll be talking about all of that.”
