The West Ohio Food Bank is reminding patrons to follow the rules during monthly food distribution days.
“We take a lot of food in, we push a lot of food out. Of course, we're the largest food distributor in west central Ohio. So anytime we have a company and we have a regular relationship with a company like Aunt Millie's, it's a great thing,” said Jason Aldrich, communications and public relations manager for the West Ohio Food Bank.
The West Ohio Food Bank is preparing for its next community effort — a hygiene drive aimed at helping seniors 60 and older.
“There’s no registration required,” said Jason Aldrich, communications and public relations manager for the West Ohio Food Bank. “Simply come out, line up in your car, get out for a little bit to explore the resource fair and all the booths we’ll have there to offer, and then just follow the line through the fairgrounds.”
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The West Ohio Food Bank makes it easy for those who need it to pick up food.
The West Ohio Food Bank is handing out a pre-cooked ready-to-heat and eat ham dinner. It will be this Saturday on Christmas Eve from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. or while supplies last. The process will be much like their regular distribution day. Enter on the west side and exit on the east side. The "to-go" dinners will be handed to you.
The Allen County Fairgrounds will be the location Thursday, October 13th for the event. They are currently looking for businesses or agencies that would like to set up for the resource fair. Organizers say it's a great opportunity for people to talk to each other about what services they offer to someone who may be in need of them.
Orange is the color of hunger relief and hunger awareness. September is Hunger Action Month and Friday has been set aside as Hunger Action Day for a collective effort to be aware of the hunger issue many people do face in our area.
This is the 15th year that a network of 200 food banks, including the West Ohio Food Bank, have been taking part in "Hunger Action Month". The local food bank serves an eleven-county area by supporting dozens of food pantries, holding monthly distributions at the facility, and helping anyone who is in need of food to put on the table.
This Friday is the United Way Day of Caring and the food bank is having a drive-through distribution. Due to supply chain issues as well as USDA cancellations, this may be the only pre-registration distribution this month. People are encouraged to sign up now to get a time slot.
