Established in 1953 as the Lima and Allen County Clinic, the center has undergone several name changes before officially becoming the Lima Children’s Developmental Center in 1996. It remains the only private, non-profit early intervention and preschool program for special needs children in Allen County.

The Bluffton American Legion Post 382 donated thousands of dollars Monday evening to 9 local non-profit organizations. Each year, Post 382 holds the Fred Arnold Memorial Charitable Golf Scramble, and the proceeds accumulated from the event all go toward local non-profits. This year, more than $6,000 were donated among 9 non-profits including the Bluffton Food Pantry and Family YMCA along with Flag City Honor Flight and the American Legion Operation Comfort Warrior, to name a few. For over a decade, Post 382 has been hitting the green each year to make a difference locally.

The winners of the "Impact Grants" provided by the City of Lima's Department of Housing and Neighborhoods are gearing up to complete the projects they presented for funding. The Faurot West Neighborhood Association will be handing out more than 100 grab sticks to help clean up the neighborhood and City Life at Rally Point will be adding a new activity for the kids they serve. The Doctor Martin Luther King Junior Neighborhood Association also receiving an impact grant for an event they are planning in October.

Over 350 volunteers from the Lima area rolled up their sleeves for United Way's 6th Annual Day of Caring. The day started at Ohio State Lima as United Way of Greater Lima kicked off their 2022 campaign with the theme "Come Together". The goal for their campaign is $1.7 million, and early campaigning has already raised over $200,000 toward that fund. Once the gathering was over, volunteers spread out to help non-profit organizations in the community.
