The High Octane Drumline is looking for recruits. They have seen a dramatic decrease in participants since the pandemic. Organizers say that transportation has become an issue for kids getting to the practices. The group has been providing not only a music program but has been mentoring these students.
Magistrate Judge John Payne shared the progress of Lima's Veterans Court, and the different services they offer to help veterans down the path of recovery who are dealing with PTSD and other mental health struggles. Payne also brought a member who went through the court itself and is now helping others, all in an effort to showcase the importance of the court to the local area.

Participants put on headphones, special gloves and socks, as well as glasses that simulated the types of different sensory effects that those with dementia go through. Participants were taken into a room where they had to perform day-to-day tasks that some may see as easy, but for those with dementia, it can be challenging.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry held the class for those who work with municipalities and local governments and those who oversee the use of chainsaws. Participants brought their own chainsaws and got to learn hands-on everything from effectively sharpening and tightening the chain to just the basics of holding one correctly. While a chainsaw may be easy to use, they are just as easy to cause harm. The presenter of the class said one of the biggest mistakes he finds is the lack of proper personal protective equipment.
The Allen Lima Leadership kicked off orientation for their 34th class. Participants spend one full day each month through June on themes such as education, economic development, and criminal justice. For the participants, it's like the first day of school as they meet with professionals from various businesses in the area. The two-day orientation includes a trip to Fassett Farm to participate in team-building exercises. Participants get to experience their community in a hands-on way to learn more about how organizations in the area work.
The Trails Camp is a chance for youngsters to creatively express grief while sharing their story with other children who understand what they are going through. Since 1997, St. Rita’s Hospice has sponsored the camp to help this vulnerable population through a devastating time of life.
