19-year-old Na'Zier Howard changed his plea Wednesday afternoon. He was indicted for the death of Ke'Vonta Cowan. Howard was 17 years old at the time of the murder and he allegedly shot Cowan at a home on Kenilworth Avenue. Cowan was later pronounced dead at the hospital. As part of Howard's plea agreement, prosecutors dropped another murder charge and a weapons while under disability charge.
Robert Brown pleaded guilty to a bill of information for one charge in June, he was originally indicted on four counts of gross sexual imposition in 2021. The victim was under the age of 13 and Brown admitted inappropriately touching her. Brown was also classified as a tier 1 sex offender.
A Lima man changes his plea on charges involving providing the drugs that killed a woman last year. 27-year-old Zachary Hughes pleaded guilty to trafficking a fentanyl related compound and reckless homicide, which was reduced from involuntary manslaughter. A third charge of corrupting another with drugs was dropped because of a plea deal.
On January 22nd, Lima Police officers were called to Jay's American Pub around 1 a.m. They found Bradin Fisher-Jones in the parking lot with injuries to his face and body. He was taken to a Toledo hospital for treatment. Williams will be sentenced in September, prosecutors will not make a recommendation during sentencing, but they asked if they could play a video before it is handed down.
A Lima man has been sentenced after changing his plea in Allen County Common Pleas Court Thursday. Marcos Gonzalez-Barcenas entered a change of plea Thursday that had him plead guilty to one charge of rape, in exchange for the dismissal of the other rape charge and the two charges of sexual battery. Sentencing quickly followed after the change of plea, with the 54-year-old receiving a sentence of 7 to 10 and a half years in prison.
36-year-old Brandon Fair is charged with attempted murder, kidnapping, two counts felonious assault, and aggravated robbery. Fair was arrested in connection to the shooting that took place on February 1st in Convoy. A second suspect is still being sought in the case. Deputies say that two subjects entered an outbuilding at a residence on Elm Sugar Road where someone was living. There they assaulted and shot the resident. The 29-year-old victim suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital. The reason for the attack is currently unknown. Fair is being held on a $250,000 bond and will have his next pretrial in March.
According to police in August of last year, Jones was going to meet a man to buy some items off him, but instead robbed him at gunpoint and struck him in the head with the gun. Jones will be sentenced next month and could be sentenced anywhere in between three and eleven years in prison.
She and her co-defendant Grant Rose allegedly used a website to set up meetings between a young girl and Johns. The meetings happened between July of 2018 until their arrests in 2020. The girl was around 13-years-old when the crimes began. Lima detectives say that Walendzick arranged the meeting to get money or drugs in exchange for the sex acts with the young girl, because of a drug habit. As part of the plea deal, the prosecution will recommend a sentence of 18 years in prison. No sentencing date has been set.
A Lima man decides to plead guilty to a 2021 shooting, just moments before jury selection was set to begin for his trial. 32-year-old Sheldon Williams pleaded guilty to the charges of felonious assault with a gun specification, having weapons while under disability, and carrying a concealed weapon. Lima police officers say Williams shot Rico Stafford outside of Markos Bar on April 2nd.
58-year-old James Spears pleaded guilty to five counts of gross sexual imposition before his trial was set to start in February. Five other counts were dropped as part of the plea deal. He admitted to having sexual contact with two female victims under 13 years old multiple times starting in 2014.
