LIMA, OH (WLIO) - A Democratic congressional candidate made a stop in Lima Wednesday to speak with voters.
Area democrats, elected democratic officials, and democratic political candidates came together Friday evening at the Allen County Fairgrounds for the Allen County Democratic Party picnic.
One of two stops in the area for Congressman Jim Jordan included Westrich Furniture in Delphos. Jordan says hearing personally from families and businesses within his district is key when discussing issues like workforce shortages, supply chain issues, and inflation. High gas prices are among the key concerns faced by Westrich's large fleet of delivery trucks covering west-central Ohio. Jordan blames costly gas on cancellation of the Keystone XL Pipeline among pausing energy leasing on federal lands.
Democratic Candidate for Ohio’s 4th District Congressional Seat Tamie Wilson has been across the district talking to voters about her reasons for running for the office against Congressman Jim Jordan. Wilson thinks it is important to have a representative that is for the people and get things done for all the people in the district. As a business and life coach, Wilson sees the challenges that people are facing both personally and professionally, and if elected she has some issues she would like to tackle.
Jordan is up for reelection. He is facing Democratic challenger Tamie Wilson in the general election in November. Today, media sources say Trump’s lawyers have accepted the subpoena from the House January 6 Select Committee. The former president and his lawyers have until November 4th to turn over any documents that were requested, and until November 14th to testify at a deposition. We asked Jordan if he thinks Trump will testify.
Jim Jordan was the keynote speaker for the Republican's monthly lunch. Recently, Jordan has been vocal about cracking down on fentanyl-related substances if Republicans take back the House. The United States is still dealing with a high number of drug overdoses and overdose deaths. Jordan sees a need to fix the situation at the southern border and to preview the flow of deadly fentanyl into the United States.
“One of the things that I want to do is make America safer,” says Wilson. “I want to help reduce mass violence, school shootings, domestic terrorism, domestic violence, and the growth of miss and disinformation in our internet and social media. I think that is really important.”
