LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Hundreds of people went to the Allen County Fairgrounds on Saturday to find everything they need before the Christmas season starts.
Shoppers at the annual Christmas craft show could find just about anything from over 200 vendors- presents, decorations, or homemade snacks. Vendors might be working for months, or even all year to create their products ahead of the Christmas season. Sherri McBrien, a Findlay resident and owner of the small business Wood and Wishes, says many people feel that decorating your home with handmade items is more true to the spirit of Christmas.
"Anybody can go to Walmart, anybody can go to Amazon, but not anybody can pick up some of the things that you see at these craft shows. There's a lot of heart put into everything that people are buying. I think it goes back to the nostalgia thing, and everybody wants to give something of themselves I think. And sometimes the simplest things, the smell of something like pine, or Grandma's cookies baking, or something like that. It all just reminds them of home, and everybody loves home," McBrien said.
Christmas continues at the Allen County Fairgrounds with the kick-off of the Mercy Health Bright Nights drive-thru on November 24, from 6-9 pm. Entry is $10 per car and $30 per bus.
