ACME legends honored before Perrysburg punches semifinal ticket over Ben Logan
- Updated
KALIDA, OH — Before Game 2 of Saturday’s ACME State Tournament slate, three longtime contributors to Ohio summer baseball were enshrined into the ACME Baseball Hall of Fame:
Stan Meyers from Ottawa-Glandorf,
Jim Leininger of Toledo, and
Romie Schwieterman from Coldwater.
Shortly after the ceremony—and a brief rain delay—Perrysburg and Ben Logan got underway in a tightly contested quarterfinal.
The Yellow Jackets jumped out early, taking a 2–0 lead, capped off by an RBI single from Tanner Siebenaler.
Ben Logan answered in the third.
Parker Yelton lofted a blooper into right field to drive in Oliver Morse, making it a 2–1 game.
But on the mound, Jacob Halwey was dominant.
The junior struck out 11 batters over 5.2 innings, including striking out the side in the fourth.
Then in the fifth, Brady Goldsmith added insurance with a 2-run homer, extending the Perrysburg lead to 4–1.
Ben Logan scratched across one more, but Perrysburg held on for a 4–2 victory.
