DELPHOS — St. John’s stayed unbeaten on the season Tuesday night, riding a historic first half from Cameron Elwer to a 79–45 win over Van Wert.

The Bluejays, entering the night 3–0 and winners of the last three meetings against the Cougars, took control in the second quarter. Andrew Elwer attacked the lane for a basket, and the junior finished second on the team in scoring with 17 points.

Van Wert attempted to stay within striking distance despite facing a double-digit deficit. Micah Cowen grabbed an offensive rebound and converted a putback, followed by a strong finish at the rim from sophomore Xavier Kelly.

The game, however, belonged to Cameron Elwer. In the first half, Elwer went a perfect 10-for-10 from the field and 7-for-7 from beyond the arc. The Furman commit outscored Van Wert 32–27 by himself heading into halftime and finished the night with 32 points.

As a team, St. John’s shot 100 percent from inside the arc in the first half, building a commanding lead that carried into the second half.

The Bluejays closed out the night with a 79–45 victory, improving to 4–0 on the season.
