KENTON, Ohio — After leading the Western Buckeye League in passing the last two seasons, the Kenton Wildcats are searching for more balance — and more wins — heading into 2025.

Under fifth-year head coach Zach Turner, Kenton is coming off a 2-8 campaign that saw explosive offense offset by the league’s worst scoring defense. But Turner believes the foundation is shifting.

A key part of that change? The return of longtime defensive coordinator Brent Fackler, who came out of retirement last fall after nearly three decades on staff. With a full year under his belt, Fackler is aiming for a big jump on the defensive side.

The Wildcats will lean on a group of eight seniors as they chase their first winning season since 2019. But they’ll do so without All-WBL quarterback Korbin Johnston, who graduated after throwing for over 3,300 yards and 27 touchdowns last season.

Three new contenders are battling for the starting job under center as Kenton eyes a turnaround in 2025.
