WAPAKONETA, Ohio — The Wapakoneta Redskins are ready to chase history.

The four-time defending Western Buckeye League champions return to the field in 2025 with their eyes on a tenth WBL title in the last 12 seasons under longtime head coach Travis Moyer.

After finishing last year with the league’s No. 1 defense and an undefeated regular season, the Redskins have reloaded for another deep postseason run. Out of their five All-Ohio selections and four WBL first-teamers, seven return for their senior seasons — a core group determined to deliver Wapak's first-ever state semifinal appearance.

But the challenge gets tougher this year as Wapakoneta shifts into Division III’s loaded Region 10 — home of three-time defending state finalist Toledo Central Catholic.

Last season, the Redskins began with a 12-0 record before disaster struck in Week 13. Quarterback Caleb Moyer, a first-team All-Ohioan, suffered a broken finger on his throwing hand. Wapak fell in the regional semifinal on a walk-off field goal — heartbreak that now fuels their 2025 campaign.

Wapakoneta is out to prove this year’s squad has what it takes to finally break through.
