ELIDA, Ohio — The hardwood at the Elida Fieldhouse was buzzing with energy this week as former Bulldog and professional basketball player Dakota Mathias returned home for his 8th annual youth basketball camp.
Day two of the camp saw more than 100 kids from kindergarten through 8th grade fill the Elida Fieldhouse, learning skills, drills, and basketball fundamentals directly from the hometown standout. Mathias, who most recently played for the Indiana Mad Ants in the NBA G League, spent time working one-on-one with campers, emphasizing shooting, passing, and defensive principles.
The former Purdue star didn’t just stick to coaching — he posed for pictures, signed autographs, and reflected on the camp’s continued growth and impact. Mathias also spoke about his basketball future, saying he’s keeping his options open as he prepares for the next chapter in his professional career.
