FINDLAY, Ohio (WLIO) — The University of Findlay women’s basketball team returned home to Niekamp Arena looking to build momentum, but the Oilers were unable to keep pace late, falling 72–61 to the Northwood Wolves.

Findlay entered the matchup at 4–4 on the season, while Northwood came in riding a strong 7–2 record, and the opening quarter reflected a tightly contested start.

In the first, Allie Stockman converted an inside feed for a basket and a foul. The junior completed the three-point play at the line to give the Oilers an early two-point edge. Findlay continued to attack inside as Minster graduate Ella Mescher caught the ball on the block, turned, and laid it in to keep the Oilers rolling.

The Oilers stayed competitive into the second quarter behind Elida graduate Addisyn Freeman, who knocked down a midrange jumper as part of a nine-point performance. At that point, Findlay held a slim 20–18 advantage.

Moments later, Mackenzie Schulz connected on a catch-and-shoot corner three, getting the friendly bounce. The junior finished the night with 16 points to lead Findlay.

Despite the balanced offensive effort, Northwood was able to pull away down the stretch, handing the Oilers a 72–61 defeat at home.
