SIDNEY, Ohio (WLIO) — Lehman Catholic remained unbeaten Friday night, pulling away in the second quarter to earn a 71-35 win over Hardin Northern in a Northwest Central Conference–Three Rivers Conference matchup.
The Cavaliers entered the game 9-0 and showed why, using balanced scoring and defensive pressure to take control after an early back-and-forth opening quarter.
Hardin Northern struck first as Luke Price knocked down a corner 3-pointer off the opening inbound to give the Polar Bears an early 5-4 lead. Lehman Catholic quickly answered when Turner Lachey connected from beyond the arc, setting the tone for a competitive first quarter.
Christian Olding later set up Coleon Leininger for a basket inside, as the Cavaliers continued to trade scores with the Polar Bears. Hardin Northern responded when Price drove to the basket, and Jake Cook cleaned up the miss with an offensive rebound and putback.
Lehman Catholic seized momentum in the second quarter. Shane Franz sparked the run with a steal and coast-to-coast layup, then followed with a 3-pointer to extend the lead to double digits.
Franz added a three-point play after grabbing an offensive rebound, converting the basket and free throw to push the advantage to 11.
From there, the Cavaliers never looked back, continuing to build the lead with strong rebounding and efficient offense.
Lehman Catholic improved to 10-0 on the season with the win, while Hardin Northern struggled to keep pace after the early stretch.
