MARIA STEIN, Ohio (WLIO) — Marion Local continued its strong start to the season with a convincing 57-35 win over Anna on Friday night, extending its winning streak to six games.
The Flyers entered the contest having won five straight to open the year and showed no signs of slowing down. Marion Local has now won five of the last six meetings against the Rockets, who are still searching to climb above the .500 mark this season.
Marion Local pulled away in the fourth quarter behind sharp ball movement and efficient shooting. Brayden Mescher found Brennen Hess for a 3-pointer to open the scoring surge, pushing the Flyers further ahead.
Anna tried to respond as Brady Wenning scored through traffic against two defenders, but the Rockets remained down by double digits.
The Flyers answered quickly. Mescher again set up Hess, who finished inside to keep the momentum on Marion Local’s side. Luke Everman later connected from beyond the arc to make it 50-31.
The outside shooting continued as Oliver Huelsman knocked down another 3-pointer, and Isaac Moeller added a highlight with a euro-step floater as Marion Local maintained control throughout the final minutes.
The Flyers improved to 6-0 on the season with the win, while Anna fell further behind despite the late effort.
