FINDLAY, Ohio — The Flag City Sluggers secured a series-finale victory over the Monarchs on Thursday night, winning 13-8 to solidify their hold on second place midway through the GLSCL season.

The Sluggers wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. With two outs in the bottom of the first inning, Caleb Smith singled through the infield to drive in Brett Reed for the opening run. Cameron Baker quickly extended the lead, driving a clutch line drive into the center-field gap, scoring Tanner Powell and Smith, making it 3-0.

Although the Monarchs tied the game at three in the following inning, Flag City scored the next eight runs unanswered. Smith sparked the offensive surge in the third inning with an RBI groundout that scored Will Lafferty. The Sluggers then exploded for six runs in the fifth, highlighted by Cameron Baker's two-RBI single and steal of home. Ryan Mills, Matt Gardner, and Brett Reed then added on with three more RBI, pushing the lead to 11-3.

Junior starting pitcher Carson Klausing earned the win for Flag City, pitching four innings with three strikeouts and three earned runs allowed. The victory gave the Sluggers their second consecutive series win, moving ahead of Michigan into second place in the North Division standings.
