SPENCERVILLE (WLIO) — Spencerville picked up a key Northwest Conference win, slipping past Bluffton 35-33 in a matchup between two teams near the top of the league standings.
The Bearcats were led by Tatum Schwartz, who scored a team-high 10 points. Briley Cook added eight points for Spencerville, including a post bucket after a defensive stop.
Bluffton stayed within striking distance throughout, getting baskets from Greta Myers and Maelee Miller to briefly take the lead. Jenna Wannemacher knocked down a tough shot late in the first half to keep the game tight.
In the end, Spencerville made just enough plays to escape with the two-point win, staying within one game of Columbus Grove in the conference race.
