St. Henry advances behind Delzeith’s dominance, Zimmerman’s bat
- Updated
KALIDA, OH — A rainbow greeted fans before first pitch, and clear skies quickly gave way to drizzle during Game 3 of the ACME State Tournament Quarterfinals between Fairview and St. Henry.
But that didn’t faze the Redskins.
In the second inning, Austin Zimmerman, a sophomore, drove in Jack Huelsman with a shot to center.
Hudson Schmitz followed with a two-strike double down the right field line, adding two more to give St. Henry a 2–0 lead.
Fairview’s best defensive highlight came in the fourth, when Gavin Garza made a diving catch in deep center to stop a potential extra-base hit.
But Zimmerman wasn’t done—he added his second RBI in the sixth to make it 3–0, and the Redskins tacked on one more late.
The true star of the night was Max Delzeith, who tossed a complete game shutout, striking out nine and never allowing Fairview to mount a rally.
Final score: St. Henry 4, Fairview 0.
The Redskins move on to the ACME State Semifinals.
