ST. HENRY, Ohio (WLIO) — Ava Homan scored a game-high 16 points and St. Henry remained undefeated in the Midwest Athletic Conference with a 54-48 victory over Marion Local on Friday night.
Marion Local led for much of the first half behind Clare Bruns, who scored 14 points. Bruns scored from the baseline midway through the second quarter and later assisted Kiley Schoenlein on a backdoor cut to push the Flyers’ lead to eight.
St. Henry answered just before the break when Alexis Buschur drilled a 3-pointer at the buzzer, cutting the deficit to 25-20 at halftime.
The Redskins surged in the third quarter, taking their first lead of the game on a layup by Karlee Buschur, who finished with 15 points. St. Henry carried a 36-35 advantage into the fourth quarter and never relinquished it.
Homan sealed the win late, knocking down a 3-pointer off crisp ball movement to keep the Flyers at bay as St. Henry improved to 16-0 overall.
