LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Temple Christian stormed back from an early deficit, scoring five unanswered goals to defeat Lima Central Catholic 5–2 in a postseason soccer matchup on Monday night.
LCC jumped ahead quickly behind freshman Gracsen Stover, who fired in his second goal in less than four minutes to give the T-Birds a 2–0 lead.
But the Pioneers responded with a momentum swing late in the first half. Christian Patrick sent in a corner kick that slipped untouched into the net to get Temple Christian on the board.
Moments later, a long throw-in found junior Phillip Buzhardt, who deflected it home to tie the match at 2–2.
Temple Christian would take full control from there, tacking on three more goals to secure the 5–2 victory and advance to face the winner of the next match.
