LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Center for Peace and Reconciliation recently held a grand opening Fall Festival for its newly established center.
The event was organized in collaboration with the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce. It featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a reading of a proclamation from Mayor Smith, and various activities, including live music, storytelling, food trucks, art displays, and the unveiling of a new mural on the building. The Center for Peace and Reconciliation is a platform that brings together people from diverse backgrounds, all committed to promoting peace through reconciliation, justice, unity, and love. The organization aims to achieve this goal by providing education, advocating for fairness, and empowering individuals.
"We have already begun to do some community storytelling events where people from within the community, who come from different countries, tell their own story of conflict and peacemaking. We've hosted a summer peace camp. We are hoping that this will be an asset to the community and that we'll be able to not only give people a bigger sense of peace in our world but how we can be making peace in our community." exclaimed Paula Snyder Belousek, Co-director of The Center for Peace and Reconciliation.
