The City of Lima wants input on how to spend millions in federal funds. Tuesday night was the first of three public engagement meetings to discuss what projects the $26.3 million from the American Rescue Plan Act could fund in the city.
The ideas generated from the meeting will be used to create the Better Together Plan. Some areas that were brought up include safe and livable neighborhoods, quality housing, and infrastructure improvements. The administration and Lima City Council will use that information to create a blueprint for funding future projects.
“So we will go back to the drawing board, after we have had the public engagement meetings, after we have taken input from an online survey, by email, we want to get all the ideas we can,” says Susan Crotty, Lima’s Community Development Director. “Then we will put those all together and finalize the plan.”
Crotty says the plan will be finalized in a few months. The next community engagement meeting will be on March 15th at Saint Mark’s United Methodist Church at 6 pm. The final meeting will be on March 22nd at 4 pm at the Lima Public Library.
