The “I Have a Dream” awards honors and celebrates doctor king and the ways that he paved the way for civil rights in our country. Around ten people were recognized for their work in helping other, reaching their dreams, and being leaders in our area.
“We have some great people in this community, Lima is a great place to live,” says organizer Dr. Derry Glenn. “If you see the folks here and the kind of work that they do, some folks don’t even know they do this kind of work. From the homeless people, to going out and working with people, doing all kinds of work for this community. That’s what Martin Luther King loved to see, he is smiling down on us right now saying great job. That’s the reason why 42 years ago I put this program together to make sure we keep the dream alive in our community.”
