Whether it's your first year or tenth year, there is a lot of learning going on at the horse arena at the Allen County Fair. Stuart Hall introduces us to one young lady who is just beginning her journey to the blue ribbon in Thursday's Fair Spotlight.
The members of the Equestrian Program gain experience each year that they participate at the Allen County Fair and just starting in the learning process is Jaymin Parent and her horse Autumn. This is Jaymin and August's first year to compete at the fair and they are learning what the ups and downs are in competing.Â
"The hardest part is probably the training, because she is so young, and the easiest part is brushing and stuff and getting ready. Put some lavender oil on her to calm her down a little bit," said Parent.
This being Jaymin's first time competing at the Allen County Fair, she is learning what the judges are looking for to get the ribbons.
"They are looking for, the horse needs to be looking very nice, and they need to be lined up with the judge, facing the judge," explained Parent.Â
Jaymin was able to get 2nd place in a couple of the competitions the took part in, which gave her little extra something going into next years fair.
"it gave me a lot of confidence in myself, being able to do that," said Parent.
