Back in the summer of 2017, filming began in the Lima area for a movie, produced, written and directed by Shawnee alum Nick Kellis.
Called "A Walk With Grace", it tells the story of a Los Angeles executive who must return to Ohio after his mother passes away while also facing the task of signing away his family's factory. The production involved many people from the area, as either cast or crew, or just supporting the film in different ways; something that those who were a part of the film say brought something special to the entire process.
"I think that’s why Nick chose to write and direct it here in Lima, there was a warmth that was here and I guess that we could’ve chose another small city - but this was one where he was comfortable and knew the the players and the people, and had a lifetime of experience," said Austin St. John, an actor in the film. "I think Lima was essential for this and I don’t think we could’ve done it without Lima."
Now the film is ready for its big premiere, with a special opening night at the Wapa Theatre on October 30th. It's a big-time for those who worked on the movie, as it is ready for the public to enjoy.
"A year and a half later, with more than a few bumps in the road, just like every film - here we are we did kind of a quiet premiere in Lima where people could see it, and now this is really the first one we’re letting the world know 'hey, this is it'."
The movie will also be available as a physical copy or for streaming starting on November 5th. If you can't make the premiere date, it will be airing again at the Wapa Theater on November 1st at 4 p.m., November 2nd at 1:30 p.m., and November 3rd at 7 p.m.
It will also be airing at the Kenton Theater on November 1 - 3.
