The American Association for Retired Persons hosted a "Coffee With The Community" event.
The event allows the community to join members of AARP and learn about all the volunteer opportunities available. AARP volunteer, Cheryl Fortman says the community also gets a chance to learn more about how AARP is supporting family caregivers, fighting fraud and providing access to fun events.
"It's a good way to meet at a coffee shop, we're wishing a few more people would show up today but we have a few here that are interested in hearing about the topics and also interested in being volunteers," says Fortman.
AARP will be at Biggby Coffee on Harding Highway on Thursday May 25th. Anyone can enjoy a free cup coffee and learn more about AARP's volunteer opportunities and their involvement in the community.
